acourts Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Have decided to possibly book 2nd night in city, unfort. requiring moving hotels. 4* hotel in Union East Square - $122 Dates: 8/23/07-8/24/07Customer favoriteDetails:RestaurantBusiness CenterFitness CenterHigh Speed Inter. accessAny idea?
BEAV Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 A search of Hotwire's vacation package for your dates indicates this would be a match for both the Grand Hyatt and the Palomar. However, in reading the customer favorite comments, I would give the edge to the Palomar. I'm seeing the comment of this hotel being 1 block from Market Street (which acurately describes the Palomar). The Grand Hyatt is further from Market than one block. So the Palomar is my hunch. Good luck...
acourts Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 Thank you so much for that insight! I'll post my results if I go through with it.
BEAV Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Since you're new around here (welcome, by the way), I should point out the Hotwire vacation package is often an excellent tool for identifying hotels. This is in addition to the Hotwire hotel list here on this website, which I hope you've discovered. Again, good luck.
acourts Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 I was unaware of the hotwire hotel list on this site. I need to go check it out. Thank you. I should have booked already, but I'm too afraid to hit the button again.
thereuare Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 This is a one nite stay which is usually the best opportunity to give the opaque players a try. Most are quite happy with the savings and quickly get 'hooked'... sometimes taking trips simply based upon where they can get the best deal.I also favor this more likely being the Palomar vs. the Grand Hyatt. If you do book the above please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
acourts Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 First off, I did use the HOTWIRE link to book. I ended up educating myself a bit more through all of the helpful hints on this site and took a different route, mostly because an additional 3rd person will be staying w/ us the 2nd night. There was a 4* Nob Hill option, priced at $105 (same price for booking both 2 and 3 guests). I searched through the vacation packages on hotwire and took my chances, hoping that it would turn out as I suspected, the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins, and it was. I So my "win" was:4* Nob Hill 8/23/07-8/24/07 $105 (3 guests)Details: Restaurant Internet Business Center FitnessThanks so much for all of the help! Too bad I don't have anything else to book for a while.

BEAV Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Too bad I don't have anything else to book for a while.Welcome to the world of Priceline/Hotwire addiction, where you don't necessarily need a legitimate reason to book another trip. :)
