Priceline Hotel: should i bid for 1 or 2 rooms - for 3 adults?

Hi

I am new here, and have a question.

There will be 3 of us travelling together - self + hubby, and my sister (all adults). We would like to stay in Orange County / Garden Grove area for 3 nights in mid-September. I have read in this forum that if I bidded with Priceline, I am likely to get the Hyatt Regency. This is good for us.

My question is should I bid for one room or two rooms? I read somewhere that with Priceline, you can only have 2 adults in the room. But, I read in the Hyatt Regency website that if we have a room with 2 queen beds, we can have max 4.

Thank you for your help - before I start bidding.

PS - I have another question related to the above question. I checked out the HOTWIRE link and understood with hotwire there is no bidding like priceline, the shown prices are what we pay if we book. In hotwire I can put in the number of room (1) and number of people (3 adults) for a selected hotel - say $100 a night (plus taxes). Does this mean that it is OK to have 3 people in the room?

What Priceline is saying is that they only guarantee a room that will sleep 2 people. You may be able to get a room with 2 beds for the 3 of you but they the hotel can choose to put you in a room with 1 bed. It is at the discretion of the hotel and/or the person checking you in. I have only had this problem once at the Doubletree in Bakersfield. It was resolved by paying an additional $15 for a roll-away bed.

Thank you, rc408, for your reply. I looked up the hotel website and it says rooms have one king bed for 2 queen beds (sleeps 4). Hubby said just book for 2 rooms and be done with - he does not want to share the room with my sister! She is a bit dollar-miser, so said she prefers 1 room (cheaper for her). Arrrrrrrgh!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I have read in this forum that if I bidded with Priceline, I am likely to get the Hyatt Regency.
I don't think this was said anywhere on the forum. While the Hyatt may be a frequent outcome, i think it's a big leap to say that this is the hotel you will likely receive.

Have you decided to bid for this stay... one room or two?

Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? Maximum bid? Minium star rating?

PS- in regards to your earlier question:

In hotwire I can put in the number of room (1) and number of people (3 adults) for a selected hotel - say $100 a night (plus taxes). Does this mean that it is OK to have 3 people in the room?
Yes, HOTWIRE guarantees that there will be enough sleeping accomodations for each person included in your search.

1. Will bid for 2 rooms.

2. The zone which I preferred is Disneyland (which includes Garden Grove). The highest star for this area is 3*. The reason why I wanted to stay in this area because it is close to my relatives whom I will be visiting, making it convenient. I do not know which additional area(s) I should add in order to improve the acceptance of my bids.

At the 3* level you have four re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.
