Do you really need comprehensive rental car insurance?

I have gotten rental cars a few times on Priceline, from between $20-25 a day for a full-sized car. But the insurance is so expensive that I wonder if I could be getting a better deal. Your thoughts?

You either make a decision to purchase the insurance or not.

It's not as if some agencies include it in your rental price. If you elect for insurance thru the car rental agency it will be expenisve (but not as expensive if you have an accident :) )

If you rent often there are third parties who sell insurance which will cover you for any car rental (some specialty cars excluded) in in the event of an accident... as well as some credit cards which include this as a perk of using their card for the rental.
