gauconsg Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Using link from SavingBarn. Accepted first bid at $62/night. Phoned reservation center and was informed reservation was made for room with two double beds :) . I would expect king or queen bed with Priceline. Will try to show up early to change room.
thereuare Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com to begin your bidding.Did you ask the hotel if they would change your reservation, or enter a request, for a room with a Queen/King bed? Thanks again... enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
timriley Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 This may be a silly question, but do you call the Sheraton reservations to find out what room-type your Priceline reservation is, or do you call Priceline? I have a September reservation at the same hotel and am curious to know what type of room/bed I also have on reserve via a Priceline win.[Edit: Oh, I just answered my own question - I called up Sheraton reservations and they had the reservation on file. Ironically, unlike you I have a king size bed, and I actually want the 2x double beds as my colleage and I prefer not to sleep in the same bed if possible. Sheraton reservations was able to confirm availability of the 2x double bed rooms but said that I would have to contact in-house reservations to make the switch. They are only open from 9-5EST, so I'll give it a try tomorrow and report back on any success...
timriley Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Good news... I was able to make the room change. Sheraton global reservations cannot do it by phone - you will need to call the in-house-reservations at the Sheraton centre hotel. When calling the hotel directly, ask the guest services to speak with the 'front desk' to make a request for a room-type change on an existing reservation. The front desk person will check for availability, and if so, they should have no problem making the change. I was able to change my king to 2x double beds without any problems!
gauconsg Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Hello,I just came back from my trip. I were able to change to King bed room upon checking. Parking Saving Tip: Use the city parking for $13.00 CAD/day( just opposite entry of the Sheraton) instead of valet $35/day
timriley Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Thanks for the parking tip! We're going to have a car so that'll be useful. Do you recall if the city parking at $13/day had in/out privileges?
gauconsg Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 The parking is not in/out priviledge. However, you can walk to almost anywhere downtown from the Sheraton, and public transportation (subway and streetcars) is very accessible from the hotel. On week-ends, you can get a family day pass for $8.50 CAD. It's good for 2 adults and upto 4 kids. You can buy the day pass at a subway station on Unversity, which is 2 blocks from the hotel (exit the hotel on Queen, turn left).http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/family_pass.htmFun place to eat while in Toronto: About 10 minutes walk from the hotelhttp://www.koreangrillhouse.com/qn_dinner_menu.htmEnjoy your stay in Toronto.
