Hello all

This is my first time on this board and on Priceline.

I want to book a room in Los Angeles on Nov. 5 to the 7th. I started to bid for a 4th and 3rd star at 50 dollars. I went up as high as $60.00 but I was turned down saying they could not find anything for that price. :)

Do you think I started to low? I tried rebiding for different areas but to no avail.

What do you think I should do from here. Your suggestions and tips are really appreicated.

Well the zones I was thinking were Hollywood area and anywhere the attractions were close by. So

Hollywood

Santa Monica area

South Bay

I would like to go as far as $125.00 a night.

Thanks

You may know the area better than i do, and you certainly know your plans better than i do, but are you sure those are the best zones? The most frequently bid zones in this area are the Hollywood and Beverly Hills/West Hollywood zones... so since you're bidding Hollywood i'd just question (again, i haven't been in this area in a LONG time) why you're not including the Beverly Hills area as well.

Let us know and we'll then suggest a strategy based upon whichever zones you tell us to include. As well... are you willing to spend more for a higher rated hotel, or is your goal the least expensive 3* or better property in whichever zones you select?

Hello Thereuare

No I don't know the area that well either as I never been there myself. When I went on the site and they name off areas....Beverley Hills wasn't mentioned.

It may be included in the naming of other areas...but I'M not fimiliar with Los Angeles

Maybe if someone reads this that may know the area or have other suggestions.....then that would be great. We would like to be in the hub area of where there is things to do and see...and yet in a fairly safe place.

My goal is to stay within my budget of $125.00 a night and get 3* or better if that is possible. If not then I guess I would have to go down to a 2* rating....but I would rather not.

Hope this all makes sense and thanks for your help

Are you looking at Pricleine's "Name Your Own Price" as the first zone in the list (after inputting Los Angeles) is: Beverly Hills-West Hollywood

It looks like you may be using the "retail" product where there is no bidding, and names of the hotel, and prices, are shown.
