Cruzer Two Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 I read on the internet that a counter bid of $113.78 (including taxes) was accepted on Priceline for a 3* hotel at the London Gatwick Airport and the hotel turned out to be the Hilton. This is a very nice hotel and very convientently connected to the airport and train station. I placed a similar bid and accepted the counter offer of $113.78 and got the Thistle London Gatwick. Ugly surprise - the reviews for this hotel are not very good.Ron
thereuare Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 I'm guessing that the other win you saw was for date(s) other than your own?Rates (and acceptances) are date specific... a win for one date doesn't necessarily translate to a win for a different date. As well, two hotels can have the same/similar rates loaded into the system at the same time. We have even seen two different users enter their bids simultaneously (each on their own computer) for the same dates and received two different hotels... so even if your dates were the same as the other win you saw, there's still no guarantees you'll be able to duplicate it. Maybe the other user received the last hotel at that price or the hotel started to fill up with traditional bookings and pulled the deeply discounted rate.
