Priceline Hotel: 2* in New York on August 18

Hi,

I need a hotel for one day on August 18 in New York. I'm arriving at the Port Authority, so I'd like to stay around that area, which I guess would be midtown manhattan. My main concern is that I'd like to stay in a nice/safe area. I don't even mind staying in a 3 star, if it will bring me to a safer neighborhood. How should I proceed/what should I start my bidding at?
