Teddd40 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Hi...I plan to be in NYC on Aug 21 for three night. Would like a 4* hotel and will consider all the zones. Please advise at what price I should start my bidding. Thanks, Ted
thereuare Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!... we've been waiting for your first post :)What is your maximum budget (per nite before taxes/fees)? Are you willing to pay more for a hotel that is more centrally located (ie- midtown) before including a slightly less convenient area (ie- Downtown) or is price strictly the most important factor?Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Teddd40 Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Thanks...I was hoping for about $150 and most areas except for downtown would be fine.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Based upon current rates i dont' think $150 will be enough but you can try the following:At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS and MTS...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and M/TS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and MTS and UM/CPS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Teddd40 Posted July 27, 2007 Author Report Posted July 27, 2007 Thanks for your response....please advise what you believe would be an appropriate rate based on the current charges. I'm relatively new to this and your guidance will be appreciated.
thereuare Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 I'd guess more like $175-$225 as a very rough estimate. However, as you start getting up that high, i think you begin to get enter the realm of alternate options. For example, i'd never bid $225 above as you could book the Affinia Manhattan, which gets great reviews, and can be booked for $210/nite thru GTA Hotels. So eventually i would stop bidding, at say $185-$190, as i would prefer to stay at this property for an extra $20 per nite than take an 'unknown' hotel. If it weren't for the opaque suppliers, where would you stay (and how much would it cost) for the above dates? Teddd40 Posted July 27, 2007 Author Report Posted July 27, 2007 Thanks, wil consider that alternative.
