fastidium Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Hey, we are planning to go to Woodbury Outlet mall and then New York from 8.4 to 8.6Needs two nights hotel stay for group of 4 or 6.We currently located a deal in Elizebath, NJ for $86 per room for two, 20 minutes from NYC, 4.7 rating, great review from peopleWondering what's possible strategy for us if we want a cheaper deal in the same area or better deal in NYCI am expecting whether I could get $70 low thereThank you all for your help!
thereuare Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Which hotel in Elizabeth are you refering to the $86/nite? fastidium Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Because I have Elizebath, NJ hotel for backup, I trid priceline for NYC, nothing cheaper than $96 for 4* or 3* hotel. So guys try 96 up definitelyFinally end up with Newwark Airport Doubletree hotel, 3* not bad for $71 per room:) I tried $65 for 3*, no luck on that.
fastidium Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Courtyard Newark Elizabeth by Marriott is $86(actually for two double bed they charge $96 on Expedia.com)I didn't book that since it was non-refundable.I am booking 2 rooms together first, if we have two more people, will try later but currently just for 4We have a car and GPS equiped and I realized it has some distance from NYC, but just wondering what's the parking charge in NYC, must be very expensive I guess......Do you have any recommendations on where to park? We will probably visit time square, fifth avenue and broadway.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 I'd take the Lincoln Tunnel (vs the closer to Newark Holland Tunnel) which will have you close to the sights you're interested in and then take park at the Port Authority (head towards 42nd Street when you exit the Tunnel). If nothing available there then make a left onto 42nd and find parking closer to 9th Ave (and higher avenues) as that would be cheaper than heading deeper into Midtown. You could also simply drive to Hoboken or Jersey City, pay for parking there, which would save you the $6 toll (in exchange for PATH fare) but more importantly the stress of driving in NYC (which can be daunting for those not accustomed to it) as well as any potential tunnel traffic.
