Wadsworth Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 This was my first time bidding on a Hotel. It was pretty easy to pick up on, however, I was a little disappointed to get this hotel for $55. I usually stay in Marriott hotels, so I was hoping for the Springhill Suites. The reviews on this hotel are half good and half bad. The hotel was supposedly renovated in 2006, so I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. In the future, however, I will probably not select anything lower than 2.5* to be on the safe side.
thereuare Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Was this your first bid in the zone? Wadsworth Posted July 24, 2007 Author Report Posted July 24, 2007 Yes, that is the correct hotel. Apparently the name Priceline gave for the Hotel is slightly different from the name from the Days Inn website. Since this was my first time bidding, I used a strategy I saw on another post. Bid 1: 2.5* - Williamsburg - Busch Gardens - $45 (Rejected)Closed Browser.Bid 2: 2.5* - Williamsburg Outlets - $45 (Rejected)Bid 3: 2.5* - Added Williamsburg Busch Gardens - $50 (Rejected)Closed Browser.Bid 4: 2* - Williamsburg - Busch Gardens - $45 (Rejected)Closed Browser.Bid 5: 2* - Williamsburg Outlets - $45 (Rejected)Bid 6: 2* - Added Williamsburg Busch Gardens - $50 (Rejected)I repeated this same procedure today, except I incremented all bids shown above by $5. ($50 instead of $45)I didn't get accepted until Bid 6, where I hit the 2* hotel for $55.Seeing how it is Labor Day weekend, I thought it was a fair price. Unless my experience turns out to be a complete disaster, I will probably use Priceline again.
thereuare Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 ... but those dates were different than you own, and as rates are date specific, it's not recommended to follow a strategy given in another thread for dates that are different than your own. Wadsworth Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Yes, I know. However, this being my first time, I was better off using this strategy to learn from rather than just randomly bidding.I'm not unhappy with the result by any means. I was just stating what I might do different next time.

GaryGnu Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 It seems odd that a Springhill Suites and a Days Inn are both considered 2* in Williamsburg.
