decaff38 Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 I am new to the strategies of bidding for specific properties on Priceline. I have bid once before and got a great hotel. I would really like to stay at the Dolphin or Swan but wouldn't mind the Wyndham either. I will be running the 1/2 marathon on Jan. 9th and need to have a room from Jan. 7 through Jan. 12th. Can anyone give me any tips to be successful in my search. I will also be staying in the Universal area from the 13th and checking out the 17th. Any great ideas for that area? THanks for all the help. I know I'm way out ,but I want to plan this right the first time.
thereuare Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Besides the Wyndham, Swan, and Dolphin... how would you feel about the Gaylord, Marriott, or Hilton as those are all known Priceline possibilities as well.If you don't want those other hotels then Hotwire may be a better option. It is unclear what date you're changing from WDW to Universal... as i read it now you won't have any place to sleep on the nite of the 12th. As we try to have one stay per thread, lets use this one for the WDW part of the stay and please start a new one for the Universal part of the stay (we do this so that once you 'win' an hotel we can put it in the topic line). What i think is the Swan is showing up for 1/7-1/12 (although i think you're actually checking out on the 13th... but it's also available for 1/7-1/13 as well) for ~$158/nite... not really sure what you are budgeting how much this hotel is worth to you. I say think because in the past the hotel amenities thru the Vacation Package were the different than those in the Hotel Product... but the hotel product now reveals a property with the same amenities as what is known to be associated with Swan in the Vacation Package (if you followed that! :) )Let us know your thoughts regarding the above. decaff38 Posted March 30, 2004 Author Report Posted March 30, 2004 So , if I read this right the Swan is showing up on Hotwire for 148.00 a night . Might it also show on Pricline? No Dolphin anywhere? Is it maybe too soon for them? I'm running the 1/2 marathon and would like to be as close as possible to epcot. We would stay through the 12th, checkout am of 13 and move to Univ. area. This is our first time to Orlando so I am making my judgements based on others reviews. I don't think it would be a problem to stay anywhere in Downtown Disney area as long as there is a decent pool. We're from Minnesota, we will swim if it is 65degrees. It may be -40 degrees at home for us. Thanks. I'll repost my Univ. info on a new thread.
thereuare Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Hotwire will only show one 4* property in each zone at a time... so even if the Dolphin is available it won't show if the Swan is offered (since they are both 4* hotels in the same zone).Theoretically if the Swan is offered on Hotwire then Priceline should also have availability... but you with Priceline you are also subject to the other Resort class hotels and must be willing to accept any of them as there is no way to 'target' any one of them over the other.I believe this to be the Swan based upon the reasons mentioned above, but of course, there are no guarantees! Also, the hotel being shown is a Customer Favorite and one comment mentions how comfortable the beds were... the Swan is a Westin branded hotel which is known for their 'heavenly beds.' decaff38 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 5 ended up going with a timeshare for the entire week for 325.00 . Did not use Priceline or Hotwire. Was a great place at a great price!
