Hi

I'm trying to make reservation at hotwire to Newyork from Aug.5th to 15th (could be a little different from this, but have to stay 10 days), I saw 4 hotels, all 4 stars:

1- Middtiwn East $229/night

2- Central Park $264/night

3-Midtwon south $249/night

4- Midtown Central $209/night

what are those hotels could be, which is the best in regard of room size, last time I made reservation on hotwire and got 4 stars hotel which was 2 yeras back, I ended up with very small room at Shearton hotel, I like to get bigger nice room at around these prices, any suggestion?

Want large comfortable room, and around attractions in NYC, heard about Affinia Dumont, what teh rate at this hotel?

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you'd like help with the above HOTWIRE hotels please list the amenities associated with each property.

NYC hotel rooms are notoriously small, if you're looking for space the Affinia Dumont is a great hotel, but unfortunatley way out of your budget for the above nites. Also owned by the Affinia Group is the Beekman Tower which has a 1BR suite (the Studio Suite is 'on request' which for the most part means it's sold-out) for $218/nite. It's not as nice as the Dumont and the location is a bit east (10 minute walk to the subway) but it's in a nice neighborhood and you'll certainly get the room size you're looking for, as well as a kitchen with refrigerator, which can certainly be useful for a 10 nite stay.

:DThanks a lot, you have very nice web site, I will for sure book from your links, but I liked the Affinia Dumont, how much is it per night, the dates changed a little, from Aug.7th to 18th?

May be I should forget about large room and get something very nice with the rates I'm willing to pay, what do you suggest, Hotwire?, what do you think those hotels are, the ones I listed above

Thanks a lot :)

Hi

1- 4-star hotel in Midtown East: Amenities are fitness center, pool, resutrants, business center, tennis nearby, high speed internet access

2- 4-star hotel in Midtown South: amenities are Boutique hotel, complementary breakfast, resutrants, business center, high speed internet access

which of the 2 above is in better place and better as over all

Thanks a lot

The 4* MTE hotel is a match for the Millennium UN while the 4* MTS hotel is a match for the Morgans hotel.

Both hotels get mostly favorable reviews but i think it depends what you're looking for. The drawback to the Millennium UN is that it's a bit far east and about a 10-15 minute walk to the subway... a few consider this an advantage as it's a bit off the beaten path and therefore the immediate area is a little more quiet. Morgans is Boutque-y, which sometimes can also mean 'small' (i mention due to your previous request above for a large room)... but the location is very good and you can easily get to mass transit which will take you anywhere you need to go in the city.

I'm not sure what you didn't like about the Beekman Tower suggestion, but i would probably re-consider that for an 11 nite stay since it has the perk of the kitchen... not that i would be cooking on vacation :), but it is very convenient to keep soda, snacks, fruit, water, etc. and the 1BR suite would give you a lot of space.

Thanks for your help, we rethought about the bigger room thing and decided to stay with smaller room but stay where the city energy is, but we don't know where we should stay, lol

Is it better to use priceline, may be I could get better hotels, better area, not far from center?

I guess, if we paying $250 or close to it, why we don't stay in small place but in the center of everything and eat out

NYC is so compact, and mass transit cheap and readily available, that the average visitor should be fine with any midtown zone.

Which service you use depends upon what is important to you... HOTWIRE gives you the ability to take an educated guess at the hotel you will receive. Priceline is often a little cheaper, but you can't target (or avoid) any hotels that you may be trying to stay away from.

You can either go with the HOTWIRE property we guessed at above, or if you'd like to try Priceline, we can suggest a strategy for you to follow if you let us know which zone(s) you'd like to bid. Most bid MTE, MTW and UM/CPS (and sometimes MTS). You can also read this old thread New York City Zone Descriptions.

Let us know and we'll advise accordingly or feel free to ask any additional questions that come up.
