snlevans Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 We stayed at this 3* Doubletree (downtown Houston) from July 16th-18th (Mon/Tues night) and had a very nice stay. I would rate our stay a 4 1/2 out of 5. When we checked in it was nice to get 2 warm cookies to begin our stay. We booked through priceline and there were no problems at check-in. (I bid 2 days before our stay.....64 dollars a night) The only thing that we didn't like was having to valet park at 22.00 + 2.00 tax a night. This is not a must because there is public parking across the street for about 1/2 the price but late at night there is no attendant (after 11 pm) and the man at the hotel check-in said that one guy got his car broken into a few weeks back and the valet guy said the same thing so we did have them park our vehicle. We could see the public parking from our room........during the day there were alot of cars.....at night none. We get to our room 1408 and it had a stinky smell to it....(this was during our whole stay) we didn't complain....we just sprayed it with some apple cinn. spray.....not sure where it was coming from......the room was really nice, no bedspreads (yeah) just lots of pillows and a throw at the end of the bed (just like the pictures at the Doubletree website). The bathroom was totally new....granite tops, new floor, new shower....you get Neutrogena soap, shampoo, conditioner, foaming cleanser and a face moisturizer.....everything had a wonderful smell! Housekeeping was really friendly......We received a USA today each morning at no charge (I think they charge .75 on the weekends)...that was nice. The staff was friendly and answered any questions that we had. We had room service one night...they told us it would be about 45 minutes and they were there in 15 min. The food was good/pasta dish and the creme brule was great.I hope this review wasn't too long....we really enjoyed our stay.....the parking was a downer but the room and staff made up for it! My rating (4.5 out of 5 stars)Thanks! Lea from Texas
snlevans Posted July 20, 2007 Author Report Posted July 20, 2007 Forgot to add that there is a two cup coffee machine in the bathroom (wolfgang puck coffee) and there is a hair dryer in the right drawer in the bathroom.Lea from Texas
