tricotshowroom Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I'm looking for a room for my wife and I, preferably in the SOHO area. My wife is very particular and is afraid to use priceline again, we had a bad experience using it in Maui, the class of hotel we got did not live up to expectations. What price's and hotels can I expect in SOHO? I looked at the hotel list, and the post is from 2003? Are the hotels on that list still valid? Thanks
thereuare Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I looked at the hotel list, and the post is from 2003? Are the hotels on that list still valid?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.What price's and hotels can I expect in SOHO?Note that the pricline zone is (Downtown-SoHo-Financial) which is much larger than the SoHo area itself. Are you willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded region of the zone?As well, your stay is 12 nites? This may be tough to get a win for a complete stay... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? If so (or not), what is your nightly budget and maybe we can help you find something suitable for your (and your wife's :) ) needs. tricotshowroom Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 I am going to be working in the Meatpacking District, so I would take anything that is not too far from there. As for splitting it up, I suppose that's an option if the price is low enough, it will out weigh the inconvenience of moving midway through the trip.As for budget I dont want to go over $175 a night, as I need to get 2 rooms. Are people really getting those hotels in SOHO like 60 Thompson and Soho Grand?? If so, how much?
thereuare Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 tricotshowroom,We're trying to help you avoid another priceline disappointment.Look at the location of the Millennium Hilton... could ou stay here? (as it's not near the meat packing district) This hotel is a 4* hotel in the same zone as the SoHo zone. Since you can't pick and choose the hotel(s) you're willing to accept in the zone, you need to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded region of the zone... are you willing/able to stay near Battery Park?Your budget also seems tough for these dates... are you able to find any 4* hotels (or 3* hotels) near your budget? tricotshowroom Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 The Hilton looks nice. Is anyone getting the hotels near SOHO at a decent rate?We are just a little worried. Last time someone booked a hotel for us in NY was the Hotel Chelsea. My wife was moritified and we left immeidately to the Parker Meridien. What do you recommend?
thereuare Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 The SoHo area is one of the most expensive in NYC, so we don't see many hotel wins there since less expensive hotels in the Downtown area are usually won first. As well, Downtown is not near the meat package district, nor is it the most convenient for the typical tourist (not sure if your wife will be joining you during the day or off on her own)I think you need to confirm your budget as i'm not sure how realistic it is for these dates... what is the best rates you're able to find thru conventional methods? If you aren't successful with either of the opaque providers, where would you stay and how much will it cost? tricotshowroom Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 I'm coming to NY for work. How much does the Millenium go for on average during those dates? What am I likely to pay for a 4* hotel in that area?If a hotel doesn't work, I'll probably rent a 2bd loft or apartment. I can get a 2500 sq ft. apartment/loft for around $400 a night for 2 bd.
