mood77 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I just found this site and it has been really interesting..I have been using Priceline for years now and me and my wife are going to Chicago for our anniversary 7/27-7/31...after trying for a downtown hotel for two months I finfally settled for Hyatt Regency O'Hare (got it for $50/night by the way) Anyway, my question is in the past I have usually gotten the, "I see you booked it through Priceline" remark at the front desk, which I am fine with. However, in all cases except NYC, I have gotten a room that could not possibly be the size of their typical room. I have always called ahead and requested a King Size bed N/S room. I really want to have a decent room...Are the King Size Bed Rooms typically the smallest ones or have I just been getting the Priceline treatment? Should I hold off on requesting a room and just see what I get? Thanks for any insight and sorry this is so long
thereuare Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your win with the board. I have added 4* to your topic title... can you confirm that this is correct?I think you're in the minority as most report that there is no mention of priceline at check-in (sometimes a "your room is pre-paid") and while there are some hotels that do have "priceline rooms", these are more the exception than the rule, and most report they receive 'what they would expect'.Do you usually bid the higher rated hotels in an area? Do you ever call ahead for special requests or preferences? There is also a discussion here regarding hotel tipping at check-in in order to try for an upgraded room. mood77 Posted July 18, 2007 Author Report Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks for the reply...Yes it was a 4* Hyatt Regency O'Hare...I always start with the highest ratings and then work from there. I have gotten the impression that the King size bed rooms tend to be smaller than the double beds and I guess I am just trying to decide if I should call ahead with a preference or just play it out and see what we get when we get there...Anyways thanks for the reply and this is a great website...will be checking this from now on before I bid
