madinirose Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 I'm also looking for a little help as well. I plan to be in Montreal from 7/19 - 7/22. I've been looking at Hotwire myself. Right now, the hotel at $109/night does not include a shuttle. However, the Children's Activities icon is not there. I'm hoping for the Hyatt Regency, but I don't think its the Hyatt Regency because it does not have "Customer Favorite" on the listing. I currently have a reservation at the Hyatt, but I want to paid less if I can stay at a comparable hotel that's within a mile of where I need to be and just about all of the 4* hotels in Montreal fit that description. Here's the list of amenities:Fitness CenterPoolRestaurantHigh Speed Internet Business CenterSpa ServicesShuttle is not listed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I forgot to include that the retail is $141.40 and the caption states: "This upscale establishment offers thoughtful features, quality rooms and a high level of service."
thereuare Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 madinirose,We've moved your post to its own thread... please start NEW TOPICS for your own stays rather than replying to existing threads which are for dates other thank your own.The above Montreal hotel matches what has previously been reported to be associated with the Le Centre Sheraton so that would be our best guess. Please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. madinirose Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 I had been looking at both Priceline and Hotwire for over a week. Luckily, after finding this forum, I felt more comfortable in placing a firm bid with Priceline on 7/12. I had originally booked a stay at a budget hotel just east of the Place Des Arts for the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. But, I decided find something else. I had tried a number of different bids over a few days with Priceline. However, I used credit cards with balances that could not cover the hotel fees. I just wanted to see if Priceline was able to find something before placing a confirmed bid. Here's a rough bid history:7/08/20071st bid - $60 - minimum star level of 4* (the room rate of my previous reservation) - rejected. 2nd bid - $65 - changed dates (7/19 - 7/21) - rejected 3rd bid - $75 - changed dates (7/18/ - 7/22) - rejected 4th bid - $85 - changed dates (7/18 - 7/21) - rejected Final bid - $95 - back to original dates (7/19 - 7/22) - added minimum star level of 3* - accepted.I did not complete the purchase so I never found out which hotel I got. 7/09/20071st bid - $60 - minimum star level of 4* 2nd bid - $65 - changed dates (7/19 - 7/21) - rejected 3rd bid - $75 - changed dates (7/18/ - 7/22) - rejected Final bid - $90 - changed dates (7/19 - 7/23) - added Pointe Claire - acceptedI did not complete the purchase. 7/10/2007I decided to restrict myself to 4* hotels. After finding this forum, I realized that I could use the "city area" feature better. I did not change the dates of my stay. 1st bid - $75 (I can't remember exactly) - rejected2nd bid - $85 - added Dorval Airport - acceptedI did not complete the purchase7/11/20071st bid - $75 (I can't remember exactly) - rejected2nd bid - $85 - added Dorval Airport - acceptedI did not complete the purchase7/12/2007After looking at this forum and reading threads from others booking Montreal hotels around the same as my stay, I decided to complete the purchase. I had also been looking at Hotwire. I felt that Priceline would be the least expensive option since I was able to give a $85.00 bid for a 4* hotel there. Hotwire was offering a 4* hotel at $109.00. First bid - $75 (I can't remember exactly) - rejectedSecond bid - $85 - added Dorval Airport - acceptedCompleted purchase. Realized that I had made a mistake with the dates and added 7/21. But, the original offer is below:Hotel Name: Montreal Le Centre Sheraton1201 Rene Levesque Blvd West Montreal, Quebec H3B 2L7 514-878-2000 Your Offer Price: $85.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $170.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $38.39 (US dollars) Total Charges: $208.39 (US dollars) In the future, I will definitely be more organized when bidding on Priceline. I'm still not sure if the bidding history above is correct since I'm new at this. I'm generally happy with my purchase and because of this forum; I had a pretty good idea which 4* hotel (s) could be offered on both Hotwire and Priceline. I was not completely in the dark when placing the final bid on 7/12/2007. I knew the hotel could either be 1) Le Centre Sheraton, 2) Omni, or 3) Hilton Bonaventure (least likely choice).I wanted to stay at the Hyatt Regency (at first) since it's right across the street from Place des Arts, but the rates on their website were way more than I wanted to pay. The Le Centre Sheraton is a little further away, but with a rate of $85 (compared to the Hyatt's rate of $179), the extra distance is not much (in both a literal or actual sense). Especially with the help of the subway or a taxi if I choose not to walk.
