Sarah1234 Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Hi,I was trying to book a hotel for the South Beach area and based on the priceline hotel listings on this forum, I used Miami Lakes as a free bid zone whilst bidding on 3 and 4 star hotels. Unfortunately, my bid was accepted at Don Shula's Miami Lakes for $70 per night. Since I will be flying into MIA and will have no car to get around ( I was hoping to have a much needed relaxing weekend in South Beach where the action is), this has put a notch in my plans and unfortunately since it's priceline I don't have a way out to get a refund. The hotel seems to be way out of the way and I would have much rather stayed in a more expensive 3 star in South Beach than a place off the beaten path (not to mention the fact that this hotel has terrible reviews).I just wanted to post so that others don't run into this same problem. There is no way out of this bind is there? Thanks.
blindman Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 and based on the priceline hotel listings on this forum, I used Miami Lakes as a free bid zone whilst bidding on 3 and 4 star hotels. Sorry to hear you PL bidding did not work out as expected.Did you not read the warning at the top of Hotel list page This list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Priceline offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Priceline all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject to change, so it is always a good idea to look at the Priceline map before purchasing. DO NOT USE THIS LIST to determine what areas to add when attempting to bid again within the 24 hour window (CLICK HERE for information on how to add cities in order to bid again).Looking at the Priceline bidding page for Miami and selecting only Miami Lakes, clearly show that the highest level is 3*Only North Miami (2* highest level) and SouthWest Miami (2.5* highest) are FREE rebids for the 3* levelThe free rebid zones for 4* level are Dadeland, Miami Lakes plus the two free rebid areas for 3*, making four in total. There is no way out of this bind is there? Not that I know of, may be better to not use this and put it down to (in)experience.I've added this new hotel to the list.
thereuare Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 As well, if you had asked for help before your bidding, our reply would have contained the following:If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Is this just a one nit stay for 8/9... you mention "the weekend' above. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Sarah1234 Posted July 17, 2007 Author Report Posted July 17, 2007 no it is from 8/9 to 8/12.....am wishing it was only a night stay though ! :)
