npsinboro Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Booked through link on savingsbarn.comTried at $65, $73, and then $83 was accepted.Of course, prior to getting this great deal I made a MASSIVE mistake and booked the same nights in Quebec, Quebec. Totally my mistake, meant to type in Montreal, who knew they had a damn town called Quebec too. So now I'm stuck with another $160+ stay in Quebec, QC that I am not going to use :) I wondered if there is someway out of it but from my googling looks like I am SOL.Enjoy the site, posted my deal in part because I truly appreciate all the good data that was available to me prior to booking!
thereuare Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your winning bid with the board. Glad to hear that the information here has been helpful to you.I would email and/or call Priceline and explain to them that you made a mistake when you entered "Quebec" and show them that you did in fact make a subsequent reservation for the same dates in the correct town (Montreal), they may be able to help you out (i'd give it a 30% chance... but certainly worth a shot)If you do contact them let us know how it goes. Thanks for using the SavingsBarn.com pirceline link to begin your bidding... enjoy your stay. npsinboro Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 Oh my god, thanks for giving me the "confidence" to call Priceline. Given their clear wording on the site I pretty much gave up hope that I would see that money. I phoned customer support and got in touch with a real human (who sounded pretty American no less!). Explained, very politely, that I was looking for some compassion from Priceline because I had inadvertently booked my hotel in the wrong city (Quebec, Quebec) and then went ahead and booked in the proper city (Montreal, Quebec). She said "please hold on" and set me on hold while she figured out what they could do.She returned on the phone and explained that she was able to issue a refund for my two night stay, minus a $25 cancellation fee. I am able to get back about $132 from my $157 spent. She gave me a cancellation # and we parted ways. No less than a minute after that I received an e-mail confirming the cancellation.I am very pleased they were willing to do so because a) it is very clear all over their site and the phone that there are no refunds, and b ) it was very clear that it was my mistake, not theirs.Their willingness to help me out has improved my view of the company and I've already told a few people at work of my good fortune, perhaps creating a couple other prospective customers from the issue instead of pushing them away from the idea of naming their own price.
