waterlooguy Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I am a newbie so please bear with me. Looking for any information about approximate pricing and location. In doing some reading beforehand we don't think we care where we stay in Manhattan because we expect to walk/cab/subway everywhere. We would prefer to stay in a four star hotel. Are there any areas to avoid? Should we get something now or is it too soon? All help is appreciated. We are from Canada and are flying in from Buf to LGA. Thanks in advance. I have read and printed off the general bidding strategy for NYC.
thereuare Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 we care where we stay in Manhattan because we expect to walk/cab/subway everywhere.... Are there any areas to avoid? Most users bid MTE, MTW, UM/CPS... and MTS for really though dates. Start here: Priceline New York City Zone Descriptions.Should we get something now or is it too soon?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.I have read and printed off the general bidding strategy for NYC.Not sure what you printed, but i don't think there is any "general bidding strategy" as we try to stress that rates are date specific and you shouldn't blindly follow a strategy for somebody else where the dates are different then your own. After reading the links above let us know feel free to ask questions and/or let us know which zones you're willing to bid. What is your expected/maximum budget? For a 7 nite stay are you willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID? waterlooguy Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 Thanks for replying and for pointing me to the FAQ's.I will pay whatever I need to for a four star (or if the prevailing advice is that a three star is OK, then we will take that as well!)I printed your strategy as a learning tool so I would understand they 'why' of bidding and not just be following a step by step list.I guess I will take the plunge tomorrow and try something. Thanks for the info! I read another person's thread for NYC around that timeand I will start at $130 and work my way up to $180.
