armstr87 Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Hi, I'm looking for some bidding help. This will be my first time bidding and I am wondering which website you would suggest, Priceline or Hotwire? And secondly I would like help with a bidding strategy for a hotel in the Times Square/Central Park area for 3 nights (07/21-07/24). Would like to spend about $125-150 per night.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Which service you use depends upon what is most important to you... priceline is ususally a little cheaper but HOTWIRE gives you the ability to take an educated guess as to which hotel you'll likely be receiving. If you search HOTWIRE, do you see any 4* hotels in your price range? I don't currently see anything near your budget, so the decision which service to use may have been made for you.Unless you see something acceptable thru HOTWIRE, let us know which priceline zone(s) you're wiling to bid... "Time Square" is not a priceline zone. Most users to NYC are fine with, and bid, the MTE, MTW and UM/CPS zones (although MTE probably doesn't fit your "times square and central park")... so you should see how priceline divides up the area and let us know which one(s) you're comfortable bidding, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
armstr87 Posted July 9, 2007 Author Report Posted July 9, 2007 Hi there, We are interested in bidding the 3 zones you mentioned, Midtown West, Midtown East, Upper Midtown/Central Park. I'd appreciate your help with a bidding strategy. Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 At the 4* level in NYC you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150.This will take you up to your maximum bid of $150.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
