booked with hotwire about 8 months ago recieving hilton met. regents park $109 plus $30 tax(approx) for october.

didnt use the link as i was unaware of the betterbidding site or priceline.com.

got an email today "error in desription should have been bloomsbery/marble arch. you can cancell or $50 hotwire dollers towards next booking"

has anyone recived this?

i looked at current hotwire rates 4* $99 plus $7 taxes financial district.( hilton london northeast based on previous hotwire post. is that right)?

not sure if i should cancel and book the cheaper alternative? id like to be as central as possible.i gather these 2 hotels are quite similar in transport to the main attractions.am i right?

or to use priceline and try and get a better located and cheaper hotel?

or to use the hotwire dollers for my rome stay as per my previous posts.i think hotwire is overpriced in rome except e few hotels in rome west and rome northeast. are these areas in rome far from the centre

If you believe the two properties to be similarly located, i wouldn't switch for $10 savings, i'd sooner take the $50 hot Dollars to use if something came up for Rome, and if not, for a free nite (or almost two) in my hometown if the expiration (usually one year) starting coming due.

However, and WillTravel can probably say better than i can, from what i have read it seems like the Hilton Islington would have a better location than the Hilton Metropole. The amenities above are quite common for a city hotel, so it could be a different property, but if i learned that the Metropole location wasnt' that great and i thought i could improve the location, i would probably try to do so. If they are indeed equivalent, then as i mention above, i'd take the $50 hot dollars.

Hi,

Based on the location of the two hotels you probably arent going to save much time either way. Neither are particularly far from the main attractions if you are looking to go to Westminster, Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham palace, etc. The tube is excellent and will only take a few minutes each destination. You can purchase an Oyster card when you arrive at LHR and use it for your entire journey to save on the tube. Any leftover funds will be returned. I am not sure about the quality of either hotel as I have yet to stay at either place. Id personally stay away from the city district. Their is a nice market in that location and the Tower of London as well as tower bridge are in that zone however I feel it was desolate plus you are much closer to your original zone of regents park. With Mayfair/Soho you are also closer to Piccadilly circus, Oxford street and Trafalgar Square. Either way have a good time. You will enjoy Rome more however, it is a great city that makes the Italians the envy of Europeans!!!

thanks for your help guys.

i think i might stay with the one iv booked.

although the saving is bigger than $10, its $10 each nite plus difference of taxes. $42 compared to $7. total saving $55 for the entire stay.

would bidding on priceline be worthwhile as in location wise?

i had an itch and i started bidding on priceline.

went to savingsbarn.com then i bid.

got the hilton islington for $80

1st bid $80 marble arch. 2nd bid $80 islington.

happy with this choice after noting blindmans review.had a look at trip advisors reviews on hilton met also.

total price is $196 including taxes compared to $262. a saving of $66.

lets hope HOTWIRE gives me my money back. they did say they would give me a full refund.should have called them before :) .im waiting for their email response now?

Looks like it worked out well for you and the reviews for this property do seem better than the Metropole.
