ibemaggie Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 Greetings, I think I am ready to take the plunge and book two hotel rooms. The dates that we will be in NYC are Nov. 24-28th. We would be happy with any of these areas of town. MC, MTC, MTS, ME, Central Park. Our budget puts us at around $225 a nightI see that today on Hotwire there are some deals that show: 3 stars MTE with fitness center, business center, restaurant and high speed interent access for $226and 2 1/2 star MTS with fitness center and restaurant for $239If you could identify these hotels and tell me the size of the room I would appreciate it. I am trying to find one room where I can get as far away from my husband as possible due to his terribe snoring problem. I hear the rooms are small there so I might be out of luck. Two weeks ago I slept on the bathroom floor in Reno due to this problem. :) My other question is, is it too early too book? I am thinking that it is not since part of our time there is over the Thanksgiving weekend.I am new to this board but do know that to book anything I use use a link from your site. Thanks!!!
thereuare Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! This is an expensive time in NYC so i would be looking to book sooner rather than later. The 3* HOTWIRE hotel above is a match for the Radisson on Lexington, the Roosevelt, and the Crowne Plaza at the UN (i believe now the Tudor Hotel)... so any of these three would be our best guess. The 2.5* hotel i'm not seeing on a current HOTWIRE search... do you still see this property on a current HOTWIRE search (2 rooms / 4 adults)? Thanks in advance for using our HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll take it from there. ibemaggie Posted July 4, 2007 Author Report Posted July 4, 2007 Yes, I still see it this evening via your link to HOTWIRE. It is a 2.5-star hotel in Times Square - Theatre District for $188 a night. Ammenities are a restaurant which states that the hours of being open could vary (doesn't sound good)and a fitness center. This limited-service eRestaurant(sstablishment offers accommodations suited to value-conscious travelers. Hotel details - Area details: A decade-long cleanup revitalized this central Manhattan neighborhood, but prices remain relatively affordable. See area map silkHotPrice8:$189per roomper night1,753.21Total : The total stay would cost $1,753.21 including tax recovery charges and fees of $241.31 (two rooms)I have read on this board that it is suggested to go with at least a three star hotel so I am skeptical but curious. Thanks again for your help.
thereuare Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 MTS usually stands for Mitdown South so i wasn't checking the Times Square area... although this property has not yet been identified either.Do you have a back-up in mind? If so, where and how much? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ibemaggie Posted July 5, 2007 Author Report Posted July 5, 2007 Thanks for your time and help. We booked two rooms at a Best Western, one room has a couch and is in our budget. I will still take a look at hotwire the beginning of November. Hopefully by then I will be out of my daze from spending days checking hotel rates at different sites. Thanks again.
