Christal Posted June 25, 2007 Author Report Posted June 25, 2007 We need one room for one night precruise in San Juan, PR. It will be me, my DH, and our two kids (10 & 8). Right now when I search for hotels on Hotwire list all four of us I only get 3 choices, a 2*, 2 1/2*, and a 3 1/2*. I think the 3 1/2* is the Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel and Casino. I'm really sure that we want that hotel. If I enter in only two adults on the search I come up with more choice. If I pick one of the hotels under the search with just two adults can I just call the hotel and ask for 2 double beds? I've been trying Priceline but I haven't gotten an accepted bid yet. I know that with Priceline I may only get one bed and we are willing to deal with that. Thanks!
mrxow Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 You can call and ask or you can ask when you get there and you might very well get two beds. Most of the time when I ask for two beds after booking on priceline I get it, if the hotel has them. Some don't or only have a few 2 bed rooms and want extra for them. I got upgraded to a suite on a recent stay in Florida because all the regular rooms were smoking, and I didn't get charged for it. There is a decent chance you will get what you want. But there is no guarantee. Don't take the kids to the check in desk, though. It seems if you are willing to deal with one bed on a priceline request, you should be ok with one bed from a Hotwire request. Either way, you might get two beds if you ask. We were in San Juan in March and for one of our nights got the Holiday Inn Express San Juan (2* Priceline, $80, 23.26 fees, 1 night, 3/12/07) and were given 2 beds, I think without even asking.Don't forget to use the site links.
Christal Posted June 25, 2007 Author Report Posted June 25, 2007 Thanks for the reply. I wasn't planning on taking the kids to the desk no matter what. It is just easier for one of us to deal with check-in while the other handles the luggage and kids. One bed would not be ideal but for just one night we could make due. Worst case we ask for some more blankets and pillows and the kids become true rugrats for the night.
