ciao_bella Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 First time bidding. Whoo-Hoo!!1 room(s) $59.00 per night x 2 night(s) :$118.00Taxes recovery charges and fees :$22.71Total :$140.71 (USD)Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Children's ActivitiesMy husband and I are going to Toronto to attend a cousin's wedding. The reception is at a downtown venue one block from the Delta Chelsea. The Bride and Groom negotiated a "block" of rooms for their guests, at Delta Chelsea, at the special rate of $149.00 (Canadian) per night, plus parking, plus taxes. We decided to try HOTWIRE and got this booking for much cheaper. So we're getting two nights for $140.71(USD) versus one night at $149.00 (Canadian). Parking will be additional of course.
ciao_bella Posted June 25, 2007 Author Report Posted June 25, 2007 On Hotwire, Delta Chelsea downtown Toronto shows "Children's Activities" in the amenities. If I wanted to book this same hotel via Priceline, how do you see the hotel amenities when booking on Priceline???? Does that show up somewhere during the bidding process?

controlyar Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 FYIHotwire is not the same as Priceline. They are two very unique websites.Priceline- you select a specific region for bidding and a star level- the system matches you- there is no way of narrowing down ahead of time which exact hotel you have a chance of receiving, nor what the amenities are- you can use the priceline hotels list published on this site to get an idea of the hotels priceline uses and maybe narrow down the hotels you are likely bidding on - some areas only have 1-2 hotels hotels at a particular star level, so the odds are you will be matched with one of these hotels- you can use past bids and hotels listed under the non "name your own price" section of the site to help get an idea of the kinds of hotels priceline has in its system currently, although it does not necessarily match up with the bidding portion of the site- keep your fingers crossed when you bid :)Hotwire- you select a hotel in a specific region and a star level that is listed - not all combinations are always available- the amenities are listed and you can use the hotwire hotel list published on this site to match up the hotel profiles- you can also use the vacation packages option in Hotwire to create a dummy vacation to attempt to see what kinds of hotels Hotwire has in its system and again try to match up the amenities- keep you fingers crossed, but not as hard since you likely know which hotel you will be receiving
thereuare Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 See this I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire thread which explains the differences between how priceline and HOTWIRE operate. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ciao_bella Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 Thanks Controlyar & Thereuare for the explanation! Ciao
