Priceline Hotel: 3* or 4* hotel required in Boston 8/1 to 8/4

I am looking to be at a hotel relatively close to mass transit options as we have tickets for a Red Sox game on August 2nd but would also like to be able to do things like shopping etc without having to drive our car the couple days after. I have already tried some tricks I have seen on this website and offered up to $95 a night for copley and downtown area (3* to 4*). Any one have any ideas? Will rooms become available as we get closer to these dates? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are these the only two zones you're willing to bid? What is your maximum bid? What is the best price you'r able to get thru traditional means? Are you willing ot pay more for a 4* hotle or are you really looking for the least expensive 3* or better hotel?

Seems like the rooms are around 250+ traditional means. I really am looking for the least expensive 3* or better. I can bid in another zone but I really need to be near the subway and hopefully around some attractions or whatever. Just want a nice area in boston with subway available to get to where we would like to go - Fenway, shopping and anything else I should do in boston.

In short i have no idea what im doing there but Im looking for a nice starting point :)

Unfortunately you can't select "near a subway" when you place your priceline bid. You need to be comfortable with a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundary of the zone.

Have you tried doing a search on HOTWIRE? While it may often cost a little more than priceline, you get the added benefit of being able take an 'educated guess' as to what the property is before your purchase. Therefore you may be comfortable selecting a hotel which you believe to be in a good location and near a subway station, whereas you might not otherwise be willing to choose that same zone on Priceline.

Does anything come up within your price range in nearby zones on a current HOTWIRE search?

Here is one that i guess is intruiging. Would like to get a better price but we are definitely going so it comes down to getting the best price at the best location for us.

This property has not yet been identified and this price for a HOTWIRE 3* hotel doesn't seem like a 'deal'. At this price point i think you could do better. I've seen:

Hilton Back Bay $200/nite (i'll explain how to get this one if you're interested)

Lenox Hotel $195/nite

Hotel Marlowe $198/nite

Onyx $212/nite

Doubletree Downtown $185/nite
