trav32 Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Hi,I am planning a visit (both business and pleasure) for 3-4 days in New York, and I have a tight budget.I want to find a hotel (2 or 3 stars):- located in NY area, so I can make 1-2 hours with bus to Manhattan area. I dont know how much it is the bus or the train, but it shouldnt be too much, because this adds up... I cant drive a car.- private toilet & bath - mandatory;- the room should be clean;- I dont want big rooms, TV, telephone at all; I only want a place to sleep, deposit my luggage (small luggage) and make a shower. The safety is also important, anyway I wont have more value at me...Time: august or september 2007Price: I think $50 per night is OK. The distance up to Manhattan should somehow compensate the price. I dont have to be in Manhattan at extreme hours, lets say I should arrive at 10-11 AM and I should leave at 9 or 10PM (at more).Thank you very much.LE: the term "hotel" it is unimportant to me. Just a place to rest and clean myself, and dont want luxury at all, just cleaness.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! To clarify... you don't want to be in NYC itself, but 1-2 hours away? (this seems like a LONG commute to be making into the city if you plan on doing it more than once)When will you know the actual date(s) of your stay or can you travel any day Aug-Sept? Oboy Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Keep in mind that if you have a long commute (2 hours) you'll have the additional cost of train/bus which could significantly lower your hotel savings.
trav32 Posted June 19, 2007 Author Report Posted June 19, 2007 I understand... I dont know what distance it should be. The shorter, the better, of course, but it should NOT be very expensive. Normally, I prefer a shorter distance to Manhattan. Anyway, it is better for me to stay at a hotel with $70 per night and at 2 milles to Manhattan than staying at another hotel with $60/night and at 15 milles to Manhattan (Lower Manhattand, WTC Site). There should be frequent buses and/or trains from and to that area and Manhattan, at a resonable price.

As well, the prices you mention above are above your previously mentioned $50 price point... what is your maximum budget for this stay? Normally, I prefer a shorter distance to ManhattanIt sounds as if this isn't the first time you've made this trip... where have you stayed in the past? trav32 Posted June 19, 2007 Author Report Posted June 19, 2007 Because I'll spend most of the time as a tourist (I think), probably I'll want to be in Lower Manhattan (for visiting some places, you know). Or not really in Lower Manhattan, but at a resonable distance. The budget is as low as possible. Lets say around $2-300 for the entire stay. I am from a poor country of Europe and this is a medium sallary per month in my country, so you understand the idea...If I wont find any hotel that fit, I think I'll cut the visiting time; anyway the jet lag doesnt let me to do much things...

trav32 Posted June 20, 2007 Author Report Posted June 20, 2007 The actual time of staying is not known, but I think it can be even later, lets say October. I dont know exactly, because it depends on many factors. Also, some advices for airplane tickets would be good for me. I have to choose between Delta, American Airlines, United, Lufthansa, Malev and so on. This will be a 1-stop trip, somewhere in Europe.Thanks.
