Used SavingsBarn link to PLine to bid for a Resort in Palm Springs. Won the La Quinta Resort and Club (located in La Quinta, CA). Web rate = $89; not too keen on the $25/day Resort Fee; but it is expected that all Resorts in Palm Springs charge some kind of Resort Fee.

Used this bidding strategy:

Rancho Mirage/Indian Wells/Palm Desert zone Resort *: $50 [rejected]

Add Indio: $55 [rejected]

New bid: RM/IW/PD and Palm Springs zones Resort *: $60 [ACCEPTED!]

La Quinta Resort And Club

Rancho Mirage-Indian Wells-Palm Desert

49-499 Eisenhower Drive

La Quinta, California 92253

Offer Price: $60.00

Subtotal: $180.00

Taxes & Service Fees: $31.28

Total Charges*: $211.28

Congratulations on your win!

IIRC, some users have not been charged the Resort fee (i think if you don't charge anything to the room and have a 'zero balance' at the end of your stay).

Thank you for sharing your results with the board and for starting your bid with the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com

Enjoy your stay.

TravelTea bid for Sunday/Monday/Tuesday and you're bidding for a Saturday night, bebe624. The Priceline rate might not be the same as Saturday nights are usually higher demand than weekdays. You've still got a few weeks to keep trying $60 though, if you want.

Ironic that folks are now getting this hotel for only $60 after the La Quinta cancelled the $40 priceline reservations as an "obvious" mistake 3 weeks after the fact. :)

I've noticed that there are many cheap published rates in Palm Springs this summer under $100, so it pays to be careful bidding above that $60 level. I think the La Quinta is one of the better properties, so you did well for yourself (even if you didn't save a ton of money).

Just returned from our stay (July 1 - July 4, 2007) @ the La Quinta Resort & Club.

Yes, they did charge us the $25 per night Resort Fee, even though we did not have any other charges to our room bill.
