SarahB Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Hi,I'm going to be staying with my 16 year old son for the weekend, want to stay downtown, and I'd appreciate any bidding tips. How far out from my stay should I be bidding? Thanks for any advice.Sarah
AaronJB Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Do you have a preference on which part of downtown you want to stay in - Loop or Michigan Ave?What is your max budget per night?
SarahB Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 I think either location would be fine. Slight preference for Michigan Ave. Can I stay within $125 a night? ANd I see a hotel on Easy Click Travel 4* for $125 a night and it says I can cancel as long as it's done within 24 hours of check in. Here's the description. Anyone know what it is?General Information:The Hotel remains a landmark destination in Chicago, offering a very European sense of grace and grandeur.Location:The Hotel is located in heart of city.Area:Step outside and you'll find that we're ideally located in the heart of the city, nestled amid the shops, restaurants, theaters, entertainment, and the business district.Recreation:In perfect harmony with the old world charm are modern conveniences such as a fitness center and 24-hour room service.Rooms:Featuring the finest in accommodations, we offer 221 guestrooms including eight elegantly appointed suites. In-room features include three multi-line telephones with voicemail, personal computer capabilities, and a fax machine.
AaronJB Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 That hotel would likely be the Whitehall. It does not get great reviews (some good, some mixed and some pretty bad), but it does have a great location going for it.You could probably do better in terms of price with Priceline (I'd start bidding at $75 for a 4* in the River North/NMA area and move up slowly if $75 is not accepted), but that would not be cancelable and, as it goes with Priceline, you cannot pick which hotel you end up with.
SarahB Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 Thanks, I just found the Easy Click Reverse search tool. Nifty. So tomorrow when I can bid again, what price do you recommend?
thereuare Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 You have one re-bid zone available at the 4* level. Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedUsing AaronJB's starting price, you can bid as follows:Select 4* NMA...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Loop...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* NMA and Loop...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

thereuare Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 I assumed you change the date(s) of your stay and have merged your two threads... please let us know if this is not correct. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
SarahB Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 Sorry, I don't really know how to post on these boards correctly. I did change my dates from Aug 10-13 to Aug 17-19 and had much better luck. I was being rejected up to $130 until I changed my dates.
