hitmansb Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Please help me with a bidding strategy for a 4* hotel in New York for 8/03/07 to 8/06/07I'd be willing to stay in the following zones:Midtown EastMidtown WestMidtown SouthDowntown/SoHo/Financial DistrictDon't have a specific budget in mind, so use judgement on what's likely to result in success as a start/end point. Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Before suggesting a strategy... are you sure those are the zones you want to bid?Downtown-SoHo is not really that great for the typical visitor unless you have a specific reason to be spending a lot of time in that area. As well, you've chosen not to bid the UM/CPS zone... is there a reason why you've elected not to stay in this area?If you havne't seen it already, this is a good thread to read: NYC PRICELINE ZONE DESCRIPTIONS.Let us know the above regarding the zones and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. hitmansb Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 Thanks for the advice....I'll revise by dropping the downtown/soho zone and add the UM/CPS zone. Based on the zone descriptions, preference would definitely be for Midtown East and Midtown West. Thanks for the guidance on this.
thereuare Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 I would limit my bidding to a $150 maximum at this point (perhaps $160-$165 depending upon how much you 'enjoy' the bidding process and/or how important it is to 'get this done'... for me price is more important so i'd be stopping at $150, but not everyone feels that way). I'm also assuming that you wanted to keep MTS in the mix, if this is not correct then just post back before bidding and we'll revise accordingly. When bidding 4* in NYC you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.Select 4* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.Select 4* MTS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.Select 4* MTS and UM/CPS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.Select 4* MTE and MTS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previoulsy.(if the above is rejected you can stop here, or depending upon your thoughts on 'getting this done sooner rather than later you can also try any or all of the following)...Select 4* MTE and MTW and MTS and UM/CPS...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165.If all of the above is rejected, just to protect yourself, i would book a cancellable back-up hotel, some suggestions:A 1BR suite at the Beekman Tower for $197/nite (comments)Fitzpatrick Manhattan for $202/nite (comments)Fitzpatrick Grand Central for $202/nite comments)Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
