Hotwire is showing a 4 star hotel on North Michigan Avenue -Water Tower - Gold Coast

Fitness Center, Business Center, Restaurants, and High Speed Internet. Price is 296 per night.

Two questions.

First can you tell me what hotel you think this is?

Second, how long do I have to wait before the price goes down. I don't want to lose a room, but the reason I am using HOTWIRE is to save money.

Thanks

The above is a match for the Westin, Drake, and the Ambassador, so either of those would be our best guess.

Why do rates have to go down? There is an event in town for these dates which is making demand (and rates) for hotel rooms very high. Many hotels are already sold-out and thru HOTWIRE there are currently no rooms available in the loop zone (at any star level)... so while it's possible that rates can go down, hotels could also sell-out leaving no inventory available to hotwire.

Are you able to currently find a room in the downtown area for these dates for under $300/nite? (i'm guessing not likley)

What is your maximum budget per nite for this stay? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Thanks for the quick reply.

In regards to why I want to wait for the price to go down, I have a hotel I get at 350, so I am not desperate. I can get 310 to 350 per nite for a hotel in the loop from wotif, lastminute.com, pricelines, yahoo.travel or hotwire.

I like Hotwire because I seem to get the really low prices if I can hold out until close to the booking date. My question was whether you know how long before the booking date that the rates start to drop drastically and if I could afford to wait, would this be the best option?

Thanks
