i am trying to find a 4* property in nyc for $200 or less for june 8-10. anything midtownish works and maybe even soho. i tried rebidding strategy mentioned in help forum and my first bid was mdw $120 which was rejected. only options it gave for rebidding were mds, mde, uc, soho, all of which have 4* proporties, so how can i rebid. areas with max 3* (brooklyn, flushing, etc) didnt show as options. what did i do wrong?? any help most welcome!!

hi

i have yet to do anything on hotwire or priceline as i was waiting for some much needed advice on how to proceed. with priceline it is the re-bid issue. i read the help file on re-bidding, but i am unclear where i will find nyc zones with max 3* properties, to bid with.

hotwire is my fallback and i just wanted somefeedback on properties and rates.

sorry if i am not using forum correctly but relatively new at it. thanks for your patience.

The Hotwire Thread we're asking you to follow-up on is from 2005... surely there should be some sort of conclusion to that thread (with the hotel you received thru priceline or hotwire, the hotel you booked direct, trip cancelled, etc)

If you intend to use priceline but don't understand re-bidding, why not ask for help in that regards rather than ask for help with HOTWIRE identifications which may or may not be available if/when you decide to fo that route?

sorry. i misunderstood your first reply but i have now updated the earlier thread. i would appreciate any assistance you can provide with the priceline re-bid issue, as that is my preferred course of action re finding a room. please ignore the hotwire question. thx.

but i am unclear where i will find nyc zones with max 3* properties

From Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)

Using the above method, list each priceline zone in NYC and the highest star level available in each zone... we'll then either confirm that you have it correct, or if you're still confused by the above, we'll break it down further.
