Priceline Hotel: 3* DC (Alexandria-Old Town) Hilton Mark Center

I wanted to stay in Alexandria, so I started with that, and started adding places that were definitely more expensive than Alexandria.

Alexandria $40 for 7/28 - 8/1 for 3* hotel.

+ Convention Center/Capitol Hill $45

+ White House/Downtown $50

+ Dupont Circle/Wooley Park $55

I then waited a day and resubmitted.

Alexandria $60 7/28-8/1, rejected.

I changed the dates to 7/28-7/30, thinking that if they took the deal, I could always extend my stay 2 more 3days. And that if I ended up not liking the hotel, I was only obligated for two days there.

Alexandria $60 for 7/28-7/30 ACCEPTED!! I was hoping for a hotel closer to Old Town, but the list price for this hotel is $209, so I'm happy. Unfortunately, they didn't let me extend my stay two days, so I'm going to have to go through priceline again for the other two days. Weekend rates are often lower, so I guess that is why I was accepted for the Saturday-Sunday nights, but not for Mon-Tue nights.

I'd recommend adding re-bid zones before 'adding places that were definitely more expensive than Alexandria' as we have often seen other users surprised with the area which actually accepted their bid.
