rosy Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I am taking my teenage daughter on a 16th b-day trip. Have airfare booked for above dates, first time to NYC. I have not been able to find a hotel that I can afford. Guess I should of checked rates before booking air. Have spent last 6 days bidding on priceline only to get a decline each time. Bid the following:Starting bid 4*$100, mtw redbid uws, rebid ues increasing bids over the 6 days up to my max of $200. Changed to 3* for mtw and ues. All Declined. Hotel rates are steep. SheratonNY$405, Hilton $375, most hotels in high $300's and low $400's. Want to stay in MTW near theatre or close to shopping/subway. I have a limit of 2-3 blocks for walking due to health problem. Max is $200 because of taxes and cost of cabs. Any advice or help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Oboy Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 If you try HOTWIRE, there is currently a 3* in Times Square/Theater District for $189. It looks like it could be a match for the Paramount (Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business).
rosy Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 Looking for a 3or4* hotel in NYC, 3nights beg 10/26/07, max is $200 a night. Going with my daughter who will not sleep in a dbl bed with me, so need 2 beds. Using your HOTWIRE link, I list 1 adult and 1 child. Have not gotten any hotel selections for times square over the last week. Today, I found out if I list 2 adults instead of 1 adult, 1 child, there are a few hotels listed for that area. Is this because the rooms are priced for only 1 bed?
CFraz Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Be patient, I have booked during this period and have gotten both 3* and 4* for less than $150 in the past. Again, there are months between then and now; so be patient. Fall is generally a high dollar booking season for them, but if you're patient, you'll find something. Good Luck!!
