fmdpvt Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 First, this hotel is located at 6030 Gateway Blvd E [El Paso, TX 79905]. Currently under renovations and being renamed as "The Hyatt", the El Paso AmeriSuites provided a great stay.Overall: A peaceful lovely stay. I payed $167.00/night (reserved through the website) for a double bed suite. And yes, I would stay there again, not for $167. More like the low 120's. I didn't leave the room much (if you know what I'm saying) for reasons other than food or shopping. You couldn't hear any indication of renovations enless you were downstairs in the lobby area.Location, Location, Location: Seconds from the main, yet somewhat busy highway. This is a predominately hispanic area. Like, that's about 75% of what you'll see. Not a problem for me, but I'm just saying. Customer service at the surrounding gas stations and fast food joints, was great. The nearby Starbucks staff were really nice. Shuttle: The driver arrived 20 minutes after I called from the courtesy phone at the El Paso Airport. Not bad. Courteous driver had a great a sense of humor and knew a great deal about the history of the area.Restaurants/Bar: Didn't have one in the hotel, you'll be taking the afforementioned highway to nearest mall which is about 15 minutes away. That mall also has a movie theatre and a Super Target. NOTE: The nearby Red Lobster had great service and the food was wonderful. I recommend the crab.Front Desk: They have this little kiosk-like thing at the desk and the staff encourage you to use it. I don't know why if they are there at the desk, but I digress. The 20 something year-old college kids working the front desk were really nice and helpful, during both checking in and out.Room: Modern decor in expresso, tan, cream and white colors; a warm and inviting room; Mini-Fridge and sink, Coffee Maker, Blow Dryer, Iron, Ironing Board, Ice Bucket, and glasses. Adequate closet space for an extended weekend. Nice sectional couch for guests and single writing desk was a plus.NOTE: If you want to see the pics of what the room actually looks like, go to the Hyatt Place Website and take the virtual tour of the guestroom.NOTE: No microwave; was a little dissapointed.Bed: Medium firm and nice pillows; I slept like a baby.Bathroom: Standard sized shower with great water pressure and toilet, with full size vanity directly outside.TV: Oh yes, the 42 Inch Flat Screen. Very Nice. Channel selection was limited and you don't get the local channels, either. Although, I didn't watch much tv while I was there :)"Housekeeping": Good Lord, you better lock that door or their coming in! Make sure you utilize them door badges. They usually arrive between 9:30-11:30 AM. They drop off the USA Today when they clean, and I believe they charge you for it. Pushy brauds, but they did an outstanding job. The room was spotless.Complimentary Continental Breakfast: Ummmh, you'll probably want to pass on this. However the orange juice and coffee were wonderful. The do serve fresh fruit, waffles, and cheese omelets. Though, I wasn't a fan. If you want something to tame the palette before lunch, so be it. Otherwise, go out.NOTE: Community computer is in the dining area :) and so is the microwave. See the front desk for plasticware if you don't have any.Guests: They were a few uniformed military members staying there for a convention and some out-of-countrymen floating around from Germany. Other than that, I didn't see or hear of anybody the whole time.
