darioc Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 tried bidding using the link for a 5* then 4* for $90 without any luck28 sept (2nites)does not getting a counteroffer mean you are way off?
thereuare Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Priceline counter offers are somewhat random... we've seen users offered to add $50+ dollars to their bid while we've also seen users be $1 away and not receive a counter offer. However, i would think that your bids are currently too low as it usually takes over $100 to see success for a 4* in this zone. darioc Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 my maximum bid is about 100 - 110 US. i think there is some kind of conference for politicians. does that mean i should be bidding closer to the date?
thereuare Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 At the 5* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* City Centre...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-acces priceline however you did previously.Select 5* City Centre and re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. darioc Posted May 28, 2007 Author Report Posted May 28, 2007 by rebid zone do you mean vienna west, vienna south?just tried that and went up to $115 and was rejected.should i start bidding for a 4* since im not to keen to pay much more?
thereuare Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 At the 4* level there are no re-bid zones. Based upon your previously rejected bids at the 4* level up to $90, i would try as follows:Bid 4* City Centre $100.If rejected increase by $5 every 24 hours until your maximum bid of $110.Any questions feel free to ask.Let us know how it goes. darioc Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 Vienna Marriott Hotel 4* in city centre winning bid of $106 - bid history $40, $96 $106 (using the SavingsBarn.com PRICELINE link)very happy with the price :) :o especially due to the fact that its considered a 5* on other sites. any reason for that?just curious about the taxes of $28.50 thats over 25%. does priceline make up their own tax rates? :) i checked other websites for vienna hotels and tax is about the same wherever u staythanks for your help better bidding
thereuare Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 Congratulations on your win.Glad to see you were successful within your pre-determined budget. The tax amount is not just taxes, but also includes priceline's booking fee (~$7/nite) (note is states: 'Taxes and Fees'). No way around it, and still much better than the hotel's $250+ per nite rate for these dates :)Thanks for sharing your win and for using the PRICELINE link at SavingsBarn.com to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
