Flip Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 I'm new at this. Trying to plan our family vacation. We've never been to Chicago so we will be hitting the tower, museums etc... Hoping to stay a couple nights at a four star in the loop or mile.Don't want to spend more than $175/night. These two came up when I searched Hotwire:4-star hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville fitness-rest-bus-net-spa4-star hotel in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast fitness-rest-bus-netAny ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated! :)
thereuare Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 4* in the MagMile zone is a match for the Hyatt Regency so that would be our best guess for that property. The 4* in the NMA zone is a match for the Drake, Westin, and Ambassador East, so either of those would be our best guess. Please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.In case this works better for your plans, you could also book the Hilton Towers for $188/nite... a little higher than your budget mentioned above but i mention just in case you're interested.Let us know how it goes and what you decide or if we can be of further help. birdseed Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Hi Flip,Wow! You lucky dog, you won one of our favorite hotels in all of Chicago! On the day of your checkout the Chicago Blues Fest opens, it is across the street from your hotel at Grant Park, and best of all it is FREE! Be sure to check that out! You are also within walking distance to Buddy Guy's blues club, which is relocating very soon, but the last I checked was still at their original site. (Less than 6 blocks away, maybe 3? It's been a few months and I enjoy Chicago so much I never mind walking.) There is plenty of parking around this area and we have used many of the open lots without any problems. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you up to the Hancock Bldg and Navy Pier, over to State Street, etc. This is the hotel the Chicago Bears stay at the night before home games. Great food and drink at Kitty O'Shea's on the ground floor of the hotel. Be sure and check out the Grand Ballrooms at the hotel just for fun. What are the age ranges in this family outing? That may give us ideas of what/where to send you. Are the Cubs/Sox in town? Wicked? Enjoy! You will have a great time in Chi-town. Congrats on a great hotel! :)
AaronJB Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 The Millennium Park parking lot is about 1/2 mile (maybe a tiny bit less) North of the hotel. Parking there is about $20 a night (at last check, you may want to call to get current rates), so that's probably about half what the Hilton's charging. The Millennium Park Garage is easily accessed from various pointsthroughout the loop. From Points West: Drive east on Monroe Street to Columbus Drive. Takea LEFT on Columbus Drive and proceed down the garage entrance ramp. Atthe bottom of the ramp, turn left into the Millennium Park Garage. From Points North via I-94: Take the Ohio Street exit off of I-94.Proceed east on Ohio Street to Fairbanks. Take a RIGHT on Fairbanks andproceed south across the river. Fairbanks becomes Columbus Drive on thesouthern side of the river. Follow Columbus Drive past Randolph Street, and proceed down the garage entrance ramp. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right into the Millennium Park Garage. From Points North via Lake Shore Drive: Drive south on Lake Shore Driveto the Monroe Street exit. Take a RIGHT onto Monroe Street. Take aRIGHT on Columbus Drive and proceed down the garage entrance ramp. Atthe bottom of the ramp, turn left into the Millennium Park Garage. From Points South via Lake Shore Drive: Drive north on Lake Shore Driveto the Monroe Street exit. Take a LEFT onto Monroe Street. Take aRIGHT on Columbus Drive and proceed down the garage entrance ramp. Atthe bottom of the ramp, turn left into the Millennium Park Garage.Other convenient parking is located in the Grant Park North, Grant ParkSouth and East Monroe Garages.
