Batman Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Good Evening, We are heading to Rochester NY July 18-28. Looking for any tips on a nice place for 10 days that my wife would like. Never tried the Priceline thing before and for sure don't want to get in a room I might regret. Any words of wisdom for a newbie???Thanks, Jack
thereuare Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! To use the opaque providers (priceline or HOTWIRE) you need to be flexible in your plans... the deep discounts you see thoughout the board are in exchange for not knowing the exact hotel you will receive. You (and your wfie) need to decide if you're willing to take the 'risk' of an unknown hotel in exchange for a deep discount. You know your wife (and yourself) best and can determine if this trade-off is worthwhile for you (and her) and how flexible you are with your accomodations. If you don't receive your preferred hotel but saved $25/nite (to pick a random number) would it ruin your trip? What if you saved $50? etc etc. What is the best rate you can find thru conventional methods? How much of a discount to that price would be a 'blind' purchase worthwhile? Batman Posted May 21, 2007 Author Report Posted May 21, 2007 On Priceline I see the different hotels listed under the ratings. How close to those hotels do they get?
