msams Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 While sitting at the bar at the Marriott Renaissance Wailea in Maui last March I struck up a conversation with the food and beverage manager (I think?). She asked how we happened to book this hotel, and I told her it was priceline (which I bid $160 for after several unsuccessful lower bids). She said "Oh you paid $159, I just loaded those rates the other day". To which I replied "no, I must have overpaid, I paid $160." Or something equally as clever/funny....not.She left shortly after that, but I thought it was strange that there was only one rate, I would have thought the priceline rate depended upon the day of week and demand. But I didn't get that impression from her. Anyways, not sure what value that is, but I thought I would share it anyways.
rc408 Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I recently spoke to the assistant manager at a hotel I won through Priceline and they confirmed they loaded one flat rate for the rooms they allocate to Priceline. They also told me they give Priceline 10 rooms per day at that rate. I'm sure some locations may have a different price structure for different days or possibly even block out some days or weekends.
