Georgia Peach Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Can you please provide advice on bidding on a San Juan resort hotel for before and after a cruise?I have bid for 3 resort rooms for 5/27-5/29 for 8 weeks at prices up to $140 with no success using the 2 free rebid zones. Since this is Memorial Day weekend many of the hotels are almost sold out with only very expensive rooms available. Fortunately I did book backup rooms at $200 per night at the Caribe Hilton several months ago. I guess we are stuck with those.I also need 2 rooms (preferably resort) for 6/3. Tonight I bid for Resort rooms at $90, $100, and $110 with no success. I have backup rooms booked at the Caribe Hilton again for $209.PricesCaribe Hilton $209El San Juan $220Marriott an Juan $209
thereuare Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep separate threads for each leg of your stay. We'll use this one for your pre-cruise stay (5/27-5/29)... please start a NEW TOPIC for your post-cruise stay.HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Caribe Hilton for $184/nite (only appears when searching for 3 rooms), which if your back-up is $200 plus taxes should work out a few dollars cheaper than your back-up.They also have what is a match for the El Conento Hotel, the top rated hotel a per TA... this is in the heart of Old San Juan, and is more boutique-y than resort, so probably more a place to stay if you're interested in exploring Old San Juan for this portion of your stay rather than lounging by the pool. (and also a good choice if you're cruise leaves from the Old San Juan pier (vs. the PanAmerican pier)Do eihter of the above work for you? Please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.If you want to continue bidding, how high are you wiling to go vs. your back-up reservation?Let us know your thougths on the above. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Georgia Peach Posted May 12, 2007 Author Report Posted May 12, 2007 Thanks for your reply. I think we will stick with our current pre-cruise plan. One person is not arriving until Saturday so we will double up and use 2 rooms Friday night and 3 room Saturday. The deletion of a $200 room more than makes up for a few dollars I might save with continued searching.I will start a new thread for the post cruise room. That's the one where I was really hoping to save some money!
