Arewethereyet? Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 My bid was $80 and it was accepted. My flight to LAX was cancelled twice so I did not make the 1st night (called to inform Hilton). With some polite yet forceful encouragement, the Hilton pushed my rez forward a night.
thereuare Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Thank you for sharing your previous win with the board. So did they still honor the two nites by 'pushing your reservation forward' or did they simply honor the second nite of the reservation? If they still honored a two nite stay, you did very well! This brings up a good point for anyone following along:If you miss the first nite of a multi-nite stay, you MUST call the hotel and let them know as they can give your room away and/or cancel the remainder of your reservation if you don't check-in on your arrival nite. (it's also a good idea to inform the hotel if you'll be arriving after 11pm... definately if after midnite)Hope you enjoyed your stay. Arewethereyet? Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 Yes, our stay was great. My only caveat is to be aware that Hilton seems to charge extra for everything.Hilton did "push the rez forward" to honor the two nights. The desk clerk whom I talked to insisted that the PL policy was that I forfeit the first night. She stated this several times and I, each time in response, stated that the fine print states that each hotel has the discretion to modify the policy. She eventually put me on hold to talk to a "higher up" and when she returned she said that I could push the rez forward. Also, I should note that she was pleasant and was pleased when she returned with the good news.My husband says that I am a good negotiator. In truth, I get more accomplished when I am not only persistant but respectful of the person to whom I am talking. Also, there truly were extenuating circumstances. I would not push a change that was not "honest."
