Priceline Hotel: Help, Please??

I am posting this in both Hotwire and Priceline forums--I figure I might get lucky and get a better deal on one or the other, and hopefully get an answer in both.

Normally, I'm not this confused.. :)

I'm not looking for a penthouse suite in a 5*, but something that's clean and isn't going to cost an arm and a leg, and that's close to Busch Stadium, because I'm doing a baseball trip, and I'm going alone. I'm not above a Red Roof or a Motel 6 if they're clean, and I don't plan on spending much time in the room anyway.

No other requirements, although a pool and maybe internet access would be nice.

Can someone help me figure out what to bid and what star rating I'm looking for??? Would like to get this taken care of in the next few days.

Thank you... :)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please don't double post in each forum... keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread (and feel free to discuss both priceline and hotwire lin the same thread). If a different service is used from where the thread resides, we'll then move the entire thread to that section of the board.

First, which zone(s) are you considering? Find Busch Stadium on the map and let us know which zone(s) are closest and if you're able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded region of the zone.

I don't think anybody can tell you what star rating you should be choosing... you know yourself better than we do :) There are some 2* properties which people think are better than some 3* (or 4*) properties while there are some who would never consider staying in a 2*. I know you say you'd be happy with a Motel6 or a Red Roof Inn as long as they are clean, but when using the opaque services, you can't have control whether you will get the best, or worse, hotel within the star class. You're most likely to be constrained by your budget, so why don't we at least start there... what is your expected nightly budget for this stay?

I'm willing to spend about $70 a night + taxes and whatever fees. Busch Stadium is Downtown, near the Arch, but that's all I know. I would rather NOT stay out by the airport at all. since I know I'll be spending most of my time either at the ballpark, at the team hotel or in the casino.

I'm pretty easy when it comes to hotels. I don't need to stay at the Hyatt if it's not in my price range. I was in the Army, so like I said earlier, if it's clean, I'm good. I doubt any of the hotels are in a neighborhood where I'll need to use any of my military training, either, so I guess what I'm saying in regards to star status, is under $70 a night, and in the downtown area close to the Arch and Busch Stadium.

Actually, on 2nd thought.. if any of you can figure out how to get me into the Hyatt at Union Station, I would be eternally grateful.. the team is staying there, and I would like to do so myself. I'm even willing to spend a little more to be able to stay there, just not the advertised $200 a night..

You can't bid on a specific hotel (if you could, there would be no reason for anyone to book direct).

HOTWIRE does have a 4* hotel in the Downtown area for $139/nite, which as per the amenities in the Hotwire Hotel List is a match for the Hyatt. I do think this is likely the Hyatt, but the ameniites are common common for a city/business hotel so no guarantees, but that is the closest you'll be able to come to 'targeting' this property.

If you do go this route please use our HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.

Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
