HereIGo Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Okay, well I took the plunge, after reading this site for a couple of days, and decided to try my hand at a little hotel bidding...linked through savingsbarn3* IAD Bid $37.00Rejected, but said I had a promotional free bid...to up my bid by 9.00I tried to increase by 2, but wouldn't take it, so I put in my bid for $46.00Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.07 Total Charges*: $58.07 This bid was accepted, and I'm very happy with the low price, because this is exactly what I was wanting, a somewhat nice place to stay, for a low price, and very close to the airport. Of course, after reading all the great places everyone else got on this board I was a little disappointed with the Holiday Inn :) Now on the downside of things, and of course, I know, you get what you pay for, but tripadvisor, is showing some really nasty reviews, mostly with check-ins and the way they were treated as priceline customers...yikes. I'm thinking...this should be interesting, so I called last night to request a room with two double beds and the people were not very pleasant, one person said he couldn't touch priceline reservations, and another person at the front desk, was busy with a customer...Oh well
thereuare Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Congratulations on your <first> winning bid!Glad the board was helpful in your purchase. Remember at check-in to be pleasant and make any requests known and hoepfully everything will go smoothly. If something unreasonable happens just remember that you too are a customer of the hotel and try to resolve it as you would any other hotel stay (but always remember to be nice and polite)Please give us a report upon your return by posting in the Hotel Review section of the board.Enjoy your stay. HereIGo Posted May 4, 2007 Author Report Posted May 4, 2007 Thank you, thereuare, for this website, and for the insightful information that can be found here. When my first bid wasn't accepted, could I have just exited out and went back into the sight with another bid of my own?One more question, from my above destination we will be leaving out to Athens, Greece, unless I've overlooked something on this board, I've seen nothing on Greece...any tips?
thereuare Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 When my first bid wasn't accepted, could I have just exited out and went back into the sight with another bid of my own?No, you would have had to change some aspect of your bid (besides the price... that being the check-in date, check-out date, lower your star rating, or add a zone)... otherwise you would have had to wait at least 24 hours from your previous bid before making the same bid again. However, this is where re-bidding comes into play, which you can read more about here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explainedwe will be leaving out to Athens, GreeceIf you look at the priceline zone for Athens the area is somewhat large (there is only one zone) so you need to be very flexible in where you're willing to stay. If you'd still like to bid for this stay please start a NEW TOPIC in the Priceline - Other Countries section of the board.
