manypims Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I've successfully bid on 4* hotels in D.C. on Priceline many times before and since there are usually four zones without a 4* (Alexandria-Old Town, Arlington, Crystal City and Springfield), I always start low since I have nearly an infinite number of rebids. Anyway, after looking at the prices paid on some previous posts, I started at 4* in both Convention Center-Capitol Hill and White House-Downtown zones with a bid of $59. (Normally, I only bid one zone at a time, but after seeing the previous post of $180 for White House-Downtown, I decided to include that zone on a whim). My opening bid of $59 took longer than normal to process and the page "burped" or "paused" a few times, which is usually an indication of success. But I was told that if I upped my price by $17, I could rebid immediately. Sensing that I was close to winning bid, I closed the window and started over, uppping the bid to $65, which was successful. (In hindsight, since I had tons of rebids remaining, maybe I should have bid $60 first, then $65.) Anyway, I'm very happy with two nights at Hyatt for $156.63, including tax.
