hsbhandbags Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Hello,I'm trying to plan a trip and need to budget beforehand to see if I can afford it. Is it reasonable to estimate that the cost will be close to the point where the red "You bid has little to no chance" messages disappear(plus taxes and fees, of course)?ThanksSorry, I didn't specify that it was for priceline bidding...
Will Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 No not necessarily, for instance bidding in Victoria,BC there is no red message for a 4* after you bid upto $20, but I've been rejected on bids at $120+ for that region so it really doesn't tell you much imo. Always worth a try but certainly not worth guiding your bidding on, historical price data is more useful to me.
OldRelayer Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 You might check on HOTWIRE. almost always you can get it cheaper on Priceline, that is if Priceline has inventory, but it will give you an idea. Sometimes Hotline can be the best way to go even though a little higher, still cheaper than retail and sometimes they have inventory when Priceline doesn
Wally Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 You can't presume ANYTHING from the dollar number that turns off Priceline's "small chance of acceptance" message. I've had several bids accepted after Priceline warned that my bid had "almost no chance of acceptance". OTOH, I've been rejected to $70 after the "small chance" message disappeared at $45.I base my bids on hotel rates for my travel dates and what other bidders are paying for dates with similar rates. I ignore any messages from Priceline aimed at trying to get me to bid higher.
