Hello,

I'll be in Las Vegas the nights of August 10, 11, 12 this year and would like some advice.

I've booked the Westin for the Friday night as I was less picky (was considering for Saturday night also):

Tried Friday+Saturday

$40 (was offered $67 at this point but wasn't sure so didn't take it)

$45 rebid

$50 rebid

$55 rebid

Tried Friday

$57

$59 rebid

$61 rebid - won

Bid for Saturday but stopped rebidding at $67

I've booked Harrah's directly for Saturday and Sunday nights ($119 for Saturday seems good for Harrah's but I'm not sure is a great deal, $55 for Sunday night seems very good) as it can be cancelled if necessary. I'm wondering if anyone has any better suggestions (particularly for the Saturday night). I want to be near the Venetian for Sunday night and somewhere reasonably central on the Saturday night and could keep trying Saturday at the Westin but wonder if it is worth going much higher for the Saturday. I don't need anything too fancy - priorities are cleanliness, location and the possibility of a room with two beds.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Regards,

David.

Welcome to Betterbidding.

If you look on HOTWIRE for your dates then what is possibly the Westin (check this list) is available for Saturday and Sunday at $62

This could possible mean it's available on PL for a lower rate.

I take it you know where the Westin is in relation to the Venetian etc.

Not sure if you want to lock yourself into a hotel rate this far out as Vegas in August (apart from being hot) usually has some good rates available as the hotels try to fill their rooms.

Thanks for the advice.

I only need to be near the Venetian on the Sunday but will hold off and keep my revokable Harrah's booking and see if something better comes up closer to the time. There are a couple of conventions on but I guess that is always the way in Vegas!

Friday night at the Westin will be fine - we only arrive at the airport at 7pm so it's just somewhere to sleep.

Now to the other locations in my trip!

Regards,

David.

Just wondering, have I shot myself in the foot by booking something non-cancellable on the Friday night? There seem to be a number of hotels that don't take (direct) bookings which begin on Saturdays.

Regardless, rates still seem pretty high for my dates (Harrah's is now much more, for instance). How far ahead of time would these good deals for August usually appear? Should I be spending time on it now or are we talking about the one, two or three weeks prior to arrival?

Thanks,

David.
