Ouper Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Hello, i'm going to NYC in middle of Sept.! Does it make sence to use Hotwire/Priceline for Sept.? or is this the main tourist travel time?If it's usefull, which area should i pick for manhattan for a 4* Hotel or a 3* Hotel? Can you tell me some good prices, so that i know a little bit more.Thx to all of you,
blindman Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Welcome to Betterbidding.Priceline and Hotwire room availability and pricing depend on what their suppliers (main hotel chains) have released to either of them to sell. This "distressed inventory" (empty rooms) obviously depends on various factors and is hard to predict. If there's a big convention in town that fills hotel rooms then very little or no inventory is released to Hotwire or PL to sell. The opposite is obviously true.So to answer your questionsCan you tell me some good prices, so that i know a little bit more about the prices?!Not really. What you should be telling us is what your maximum budget is for each night. You can look at the usual or Expedia or Orbitz or Tripadvisor to get a feel for the published pricesHello, i'm going to NYC in middle of Sept.! Does it make sence to use Priceline for Sept.? or is this the main tourist travel time?We need to know your exact travel dates (if you have them yet)If it's useful, which area should i pick for manhattan for a 4* Hotel or a 3* Hotel? Manhattan (IMHO) has a good subway system that is cheap and easy to use, so where to stay is really down to personal preferences. To get the best value it's usually better to bid for higher 4* hotels as the $ savings is usually greater than lower star ratings and their product is usually better. Not speaking from personal experience but lower stars (1 and 2) in New York can be suspect.I would suggest you have a good look at the Map section to see where previously won PL hotels are located and read the reviews and winning bids. This also gives an idea of the range of prices at which hotels can be won.So to recapPlease start a NEW Thread in the PL New York Topic withyour Maximum budget, the dates of travel and in which areas you want to bid.
blindman Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I've answered this question in the PL threadIf you have specific Hotwire questions please start a new thread if necessary.
