nomoreup Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 First post here...I am looking for a 4* in Palm Springs. When I go to priceline, they no longer show any 4* properties in the Palm Springs Central area. I have seen other members get the Hyatt Suites. That would be great. Is there any way I could attempt to get this hotel when it only shows 3* properties? Is the Wyndham or Riviera decent for a 3*? Thank you.
blindman Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Welcome to Betterbidding. There is no guarantee of getting a particular hotel with PL, you could win any of the 3* properties in Palm Springs.Bear in mind that PL has it's own 3* rating :) Maybe the Hyatt is now classed as a 3* in PL What is your maximum bid?Have you seen this (old) review of the HyattHere's a Tripadvisor review Rather you than me :o Tripadvisor Wyndham (variable) Reviews :) Palm Springs Riviera is closed for renovation, due to open in the Fall of 2007
nomoreup Posted April 20, 2007 Author Report Posted April 20, 2007 I did see those reviews. My max bid would be $100 per night. Thanks for your help.
blindman Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Just noticed :) the post was in the wrong forum so I've moved it .I'm NOT the expert at giving bidding advice, but here's my slant on things.HOTWIRE for your dates shows a 3* at $109 which could be the Hyatt (If you create a package trip for those dates the Hyatt comes up as an option and the facilities match those of the 3* .However this is NOT a guarantee to be correct.)So, having said that it is likely that PL will have Hyatt inventory possibly at a lower price.StrategyFirstly there are NO free rebids in this area as all three have 3* and above. So if your bid fails then you must wait 24 hours, no problem as you've plenty of time.Hyatt web-site has rates of $149This recent priceline win showed that a bid of between $65 and $75 won when their rate was $129.So, if it were me :) I'd lowball with a bid of $60 as time is on your side. Please consider starting your bids with the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.comLet us know how you get on
nomoreup Posted April 23, 2007 Author Report Posted April 23, 2007 I ended up going up to $65 with Palm Springs Central and was rejected. I lowered my bid to $60 and added the Rancho Mirage, La Quinta areas almost assuming the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort would hit...and it did. Not exactly the spot where I need to be but a nicer property at a better rate. I made my bids through sb.com and replied and got the bid on the rejection e mail from pl.com. Thanks for your help.
blindman Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Glad you got a win and thank you for using the SB link.
