pomcoach Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 We added 1 more night onto our vacation, and needed to be near the airport for our flight out the next day. I was sure hoping for the Hyatt (the one right in the airport, but the Marriott is fine too. It's 5 min. from the airport. We got 2 rooms, one for the quiet parents who like sleep, and 1 for two rowdy teenagers who like music and T.V. into the wee hours!Checked regular.rates on hotel websites before bidding:3* MCO Marriott Orlando Airport=AAA $1343* MCO Renaissance Orlando Airport=AAA $873* MCO Holiday Inn Select= $94 "Best Available" rate3* MCO Hyatt Regency Airport=AAA $134.103* MCO Sheraton Suites Airport=AAA $693* MCO Crowne Plaza = $96 (21 day advance rate)Started $37=rejected, but got counter offer to raise $10(Believe it or not, that's the first counter offer I've ever experienced, so it was pretty exciting!! I'm easily amused!!) :) Of course I declined the counter offer.Used a free rebid and tried $39 and was accepted at Marriott. It was interesting to me that they wanted me to go up $10, but they accepted my bid, when I only went up $2.2 nts. x $39 =$78 plus taxes and fees of $16.22 = Total of $94.22I called to confirm the reservation. They said both rooms already came up as Non-Smoking. :o She put in my request for 2 adjoining rooms, 1 King and 2 DBL.s They have a free 24 hour shuttle that takes to and from the Airport every 15 min. After 10 p.m., it's every 1/2 hour. They have free parking, 27" T.V., Restaurant, Indoor/Outdoor Pool, hot Tub, Sauna, Steam Room. Sounds Great!!$39 is the lowest I've ever seen the Marriott come in before, so we are very pleased! :) Pomcoach :)
thereuare Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Your post got me thinking...I think in some areas we're seeing the deals get even more incredible, while other areas are getting extremely difficult.Guess that's just the ebb and flow of hotel bidding. As always, thanks for posting your results.
