toddrsun Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 checking in fri 4-20, out sun 4-22will be going to theater saturday night and are likely to be out late night at the clubs both nights. had thought i'd want times square area for sure but taking advice found on here and leaving that open. but...my companion has never been to nyc and i'd like to stay somewhere with some action going on...breaking the budget already with wicked tickets, so hoping to keep hotel capped at $175 each night..preferrably much lower :-) need one bed, two people. only requirements are reasonably comfortable bed and CLEAN. the beekman towers i've been reading about would seem like a good place. any bidding strategies? other advice?thanks in advance. and i'll be sure to post my results.
thereuare Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't see any availability at the Beekman Tower for your dates. Your budget may be tough for a 4* but assuming you're willing to stay in MTE, MTW, or UM/CPS you can try as follows:You have two re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes... we have some alternate ideas if the above fails (although a bit more $$). toddrsun Posted April 18, 2007 Author Report Posted April 18, 2007 just to be certain, my rebid zones in this case would be ues and uws? i think i got it. do i?by the way, now hoping for the barclay, hoping to keep ride the flow of earlier posters.
toddrsun Posted April 18, 2007 Author Report Posted April 18, 2007 i got gutsy and figured i was correct. the improvement on the pl website is what threw me.here's what i've done; i'm going to wait till wednesday afternoon to resume. i stopped partly because i'm tired and partly because i wanted to see if my quest for the barclay would change the strategy. (like merely reversing the the um/cps and mte and mtw steps, if need me.here's what i've done. going through the barn:bid $130 mte, rejectedbid $140, mte and uws, rejected bid $145, mte, ues, rejected...reopened new browser and repeated the cycle above starting with mtw.
thereuare Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Which steps are you considering reversing? The strategy above would take price into consideration first and then your desire for the Inter-Continental Barclay (since each time you bid at a higher price you're trying the MTE zone first)If you plan on chaning the order around i would suggest that you post exactly how you intend to bid... as doing so may give you fewer bidding opportunities.
