Could anyone help identify these San Francisco Hotwire hotels? For May 2-4, 2007.

1) USE 2.5*: Amenities: restaurant. Trip advisor rating 4/5

2) USW 2.5*: Amenities: Boutique, Comp breakfast, Fitness, Business. Trip advisor rating 4/5

3) USW 3*: Amenities: Restaurant. No Trip advisor rating given.

Vacation package search for May 2-4 lists nothing lower than 3 * - Diva, Maxwell, Handlery, Carlton - but none of the amenities match the opaque hotels.

Does Hotwire leave out some amenities on opaque hotels?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The 3* in the USW zone may be the Commodore which has previously been reported with just a sole Restaurant icon, but with just that one (common) amenity showing it could be almost anything.

However, with most of the above above hotels in the $75-$80 range, wouldn't it make more sense (if your budget allows) to go for the 4* hotel for $99 (or bidding on Priceline for a 4* property at these prices or a bit more?)

If you do go with any of the above please use our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase. If you would like help with a priceline strategy let us know your maximum bid, if you're willing to bid both the USW and USE zones, and your maximum bid amount.

Let us know whatever you choose to do or if we can be of further help.

Thanks for your reply. I just checked the Commodore website and that hotel is now closed!

"After 12 years of hosting travelers from all over the world, Joie de Vivre Hospitality announces the closure of the Commodore. The hotel has been sold and will be converted into housing for San Francisco residents in the near future."

Re: Priceline - I would like to stay within walking distance of Union Square. Do you think hotels in the Priceline USE/ Embarcadero zone are close enough? I have tried bidding a couple of times on Priceline for 4* in USW zone up to $85 without luck. I will look again at the zone maps and consider if I will also try to bid in USE.

Thanks again for your help, I will use the link for future bids.

I'll leave the "is it close enough to Union Square" question up to somebody who is more local to the area (as well as your own feet :) )... but i think mass transit in that immediate area is pretty good, so i don't think you'd be more than a few minutes away if you didn't want to walk (but again, only going by my most recent SF experience where i had a very good tour guide to show me around <they know who they are :) >)
